Raspberry Pi 5, 1 GB RAM – Single-Board Computer with a 2.4 GHz Cortex-A76 Processor
The Raspberry Pi 5 (1 GB) is the 1 GB LPDDR4X version of the fifth-generation single-board computer. The Broadcom BCM2712 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A76 processor runs at 2.4 GHz and, according to the retailer, is up to 2–3 times faster than the Raspberry Pi 4. It has two micro-HDMI outputs (up to 4K@60Hz), two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, a PCI Express 2.0 connector, and a power button.
Description
The Raspberry Pi 5 is designed for education, hobby use, and professional embedded systems and automation. The board carries a Broadcom BCM2712 processor (4 × ARM Cortex-A76, 2.4 GHz), a VideoCore VII graphics processor (800 MHz), and the RP1 I/O controller, which offloads interface handling from the main processor. This version has 1 GB of LPDDR4X-4267 memory.
The board has two 4-lane MIPI DSI/CSI connectors (for two cameras, two displays, or a camera and a display), a PCI Express 2.0 connector for fast peripherals, an RTC battery socket, a UART connector, a fan connector, and a power button (to power on, power off, and wake from deep sleep). The standard 40-pin GPIO (2 × 20, 2.54 mm pitch) and a microSD slot with SDR104 speed support are retained.
The device runs Raspberry Pi OS (from the Bookworm version onwards). Power comes through the USB-C port; a 5 V power supply rated for at least 5 A is required. The 1 GB RAM version suits lighter tasks – for example learning, IoT and automation, servers, or compact systems; for a desktop workstation or more demanding applications, versions with more RAM are worth considering.

Good to Know
- This is the board only – the power supply (5 V / 5 A USB-C), microSD card, case, cooling, and cables are sold separately.
- The Raspberry Pi 5 has micro-HDMI connectors (not full-size HDMI), so a micro-HDMI to HDMI cable or adapter is required.
- The MIPI DSI/CSI connectors are 22-pin with 0.5 mm pitch, so older accessories (cameras, displays) may need an adapter.
- 4K@60Hz output depends on the connected monitor and cable.
- The layout of the interfaces differs from earlier Raspberry Pi versions – check cases and accessories for compatibility.
